Rob Wareing

Rob studied art and painting techniques under various well-known artists in England and the USA, including master pastelist Daniel Greene, John Howard Sanden, Bob Gerbracht and Adrian Sanderman.

In 1982 Rob became a member of the portrait institute of New York and attended an international portrait seminar in the USA where his pastel works recieved special mention. The following year Rob settled on the South Coast of Natal, where he purchased a local art gallery through which he exhibited his work and executed portrait commissions during the next few years.

Rob's clients included members of parliament, mayors, TV personalities and prominent business people. In November 1998, Rob was commissioned by De Beers mining to paint the official portrait of Festus Mogae, State President of Botswana. The portrait was very well recieved and he was given another commission to paint the former Attorney General of Botswana.

Since then Rob has exhibited there regularly and painted numerous diplomats and prominent business people, including former South African president Nelson Mandela

Internationally acclaimed South African-based portrait artist, Rob Wareing, brings portrait work to life with his incredibly realistic approach.

Students will work from live models as Rob leads this two day course through a series of informal talks, detailed demonstration and tailored one-to-one tuition.

Rob has a lovely relaxed tutoring style, making for a pleasant course dynamic and students always feel comfortable asking him to solve any problems that they may be having with painting or drawing generally.
